Purpose of SecureCode:
The SecureCode addresses the concerns of cardholders with regard to Internet shopping. It is designed to increase cardholder confidence with online purchases and reduce disputes and fraudulent activity.

What is SecureCode:
SecureCode is a cardholder defined password which may be created by the customer during an enrollment process in one of three ways:

  1. through this hyperlink to MasterCard SecureCode
  2. directly through the MasterCard website http://www.mastercard.com
  3. through Activation During Shopping (ADS), which prompts the cardholder to enroll and establish a SecureCode password when making a purchase from a participating merchant
To authenticate the cardholder upon enrollment, MasterCard will require him or her to provide the CVC2 (located on the signature panel on the back of the card), the card expiration date, and the ATM pin number. Once the information is verified, the cardholder will be prompted to create his or her new SecureCode.

Once enrolled, each time a cardholder pays at a participating online merchant with his or her MasterCard card, a webpage will appear (with First National Bank's logo) asking the cardholder to authenticate with the SecureCode before the purchase is completed. The identity is confirmed and the transaction is completed.
